Wooden elephant marionette.
They date back to the 1930s or 1940s and were made in what was then Burma (now Myanmar).
In Buddhism in Central Asian countries, elephants, which are born white due to a lack of pigment, are considered particularly sacred, and it is believed that these elephants were also used in puppet shows linked to this faith.
Although it has a primitive atmosphere, it is an intricately made item for use in plays, and has many attractive features, such as its silly expression and the cute dot pattern on the decorative fabric on its forehead and back . It can be hung on a wall, suspended in mid-air, or even free-standing, making it easy to display in a variety of places as interior decor .
