Wooden elephant marionette. They date back to the 1930s or 1940s and were made in what was then Burma (now Myanmar). In Buddhism in Central Asian countries, elephants, which are born white due to a lack of pigment,are considered particularly sacred, andit is believed that these elephants were also used in puppet shows linked to this faith.
