A cup and saucer made from "Fushina ware", a type of pottery that has been produced in Shimane Prefecture for a long time.
This is a vintage item made in the 1970s.
Fujina ware, which participated in the Mingei movement in the early Showa period and has continued to bear strong influences from it to the present day, is known for British techniques such as slipware introduced by British potter Bernard Leach and others. This piece also displays the characteristics of Fujina ware well, with a beautiful yellow glaze and slip technique applied to the red clay. The influence of Leach can also be seen in the adorable shape and handle. The slightly small size makes it perfect for an after-meal coffee. The saucer has a simple shape so it can also be used as a small plate.
Size: Φ81 (including handle) h73 (mm)
