Black glaze 5.5 inch bowl / Densai kiln

These are old pieces from Denishi Kiln, a folk kiln representative of the San'in region. The standard black-glazed pieces make food look great and are often very easy to use. These pieces were made in the mid- to late-Showa period, and are full of deep charm with their yuzu-skinned black glaze, thickness, and the roughness of the underside that is unique to climbing kiln firing. Because they are plain, you can directly feel the charm of the clay, glaze, and form. These old pieces from Denishi Kiln are now rare, and you'll notice their splendor in unexpected moments when you line them up on the dining table or wash the dishes.
