This is an old flower mat woven in Kurashiki.
Hanamushiro is a type of woven rush grass mat made by weaving patterns into it, and has long been a popular craft in the southern part of Okayama Prefecture, known for its rush grass production. During the Showa era, it was deeply connected to the Mingei movement, with dyer Serizawa Keisuke and Tonomura Yoshinosuke, the first director of the Kurashiki Mingei Museum, involved in its design, and it flourished in the 1960s, but nowadays cultivation of high-quality rush grass has decreased and there is only one workshop that weaves mats. This product is made with generous amounts of high-quality rush grass from a good era, and the design has a modern impression that gives off a somewhat exotic atmosphere. It is an excellent product, including its nearly unused condition.
Size: 1820×875mm
