This is a local toy that originated from the Bonten, a Buddhist statue used during festivals in Yokote City, Akita Prefecture. It is made by shaving willow, paper mulberry, koshiabura, and other woods, bundling the shavings into balls, dyeing them, and finishing them. Originally made to pray for the growth of children and the prosperity of descendants, its pop and rhythmic shape brightens up any space as an interior decoration.
Although it is old, it is in very good condition. We recommend it as an accent piece for your room, as it brings good luck.
Origin: Akita Prefecture
