This is an old teacup made by Shiwajigama, a pottery kiln in Miyoshi City, Hiroshima Prefecture .
The greenish ash glaze and the light, flowing ichin give this piece a very modern feel. After training in Tanba, Toshiro Sato of Shiwajigama worked with Okishio at Kurashiki Minatogama for many years, producing many pieces of reliable tableware for everyday life. Even after going independent, he continued to create tableware that is gentle and in keeping with everyday life, based on that same spirit. This is one piece of tableware that we would like to continue to cherish and pass on as an embodiment of folk art.
