An old bowl made by Ushinoto ware, a folk kiln that represents Tottori Prefecture.
It is an attractive piece of pottery with a strong octagonal shape that is not seen today and the characteristic green glaze of Ushinoto on the inside, exuding the beauty of folk art. It is a reliable item for serving salads, stews, and even soups like soup pasta on the daily dinner table. Ushinoto ware, which has been around since the Edo period, has produced a number of modern and attractive folk art pottery pieces since the early Showa period, led by folk art producer Yoshida Shoya. This has not changed to the present day, and pottery is still made using local soil and in climbing kilns that have been passed down for generations.
